[This next part is weird. Usually it’s only Iwa’s mom that ever calls him “Hajime”. Even his dad just calls him “son” most of the time. When the other third years use his first name, he usually threatens to beat their ass, and to Oikawa he’s “Iwa-chan”. So what he’s about to say is a big deal, he realizes, special permission that only Kunimi will ever get.

[But he deserves that. And Iwa kind of likes the idea the more he thinks about it. More butterflies - how embarrassing.]

[Given names are very real, Kunimi would agree with that. He still calls his absolute best friend and... probably first love Kindaichi, after all, and has never once used Yutaro because they met in their tween years. Nor has Kindaichi ever truncated his name into some cute diminutive or called him Akira.

In fact, even thinking of Iwaizumi as Hajime is strange. Kunimi completely understands Oikawa's use of Iwa-chan now and would probably come up with something similar if he didn't fear Oikawa would kill him for co-opting any part of the nickname.]
